The stock count agent is an AI agent from Front Systems Cortex that suggests a small selection of items to count each day.
This article explains what you see in Front Systems Portal and how to use the daily counts in practice.

What you see on the stock count page
Navigate to Flow of goods > Stock count in Portal.
Today’s recommendation: A count called “FS Cortex recommendation for [date]”, typically containing up to 10 products considered to be at high risk of discrepancies.
Four key store metrics, which update as you complete a count:
- Inventory accuracy: An estimate of how much of your current inventory is accurate. The most important factor is how frequently you count.
- Estimated recovered sales: The value of items you counted as having more units than the system expected. These are items that were effectively hidden from sale and are now available again.
- Estimated avoided overselling: The value of items you counted as having fewer units than the system expected. This means you avoided promising customers items that were not actually available.
- Counts: The number of completed counts and the number of units adjusted during the last 30 days.
N.B.
Estimated recovered sales and estimated avoided overselling are only calculated for products with actual sales history during the last 30 days.
A product with no sales during that period will show 0, regardless of how large the discrepancy was.
You will also see Recommended count – a table showing which products are recommended for counting and the expected quantity for each.
How it works
To count, follow these steps:
Step 1: Count the items in FrontZapp
Open the count in FrontZapp and count the items. (The count will aready be available in the app.)
Step 2: Reconcile the count in Portal
Once everything has been counted, reconcile the count in Portal.
It is processed in exactly the same way as a regular inventory count, and the inventory quantity is updated automatically.
TIPS
You don’t have to count every day for this to work, but the more frequently you count, the faster your inventory accuracy improves.
Why is this useful
Stores that count small quantities frequently maintain significantly higher inventory accuracy than stores that only perform one large count per year.
These micro-counts provide the same benefits without the burden of a large annual inventory count:
- Inventory accuracy improves continuously
- Less need for a large annual inventory count
- A more reliable picture of what you actually have in stock at any given time
Designed to fit seamlessly into your existing workflow.
