In this article, you will learn about certain product dimensions that must be defined in order to create products in Front Systems.
Product dimensions
A product variant (for example: combinations of sizes and colors for a T-shirt) can be defined by using a combination of product dimensions.
Product dimensions serve different purposes, such as:
- Product specification
- Search parameter
- Filtering of goods
- Comparison of parameters in reports
- When creating a delivery
Prior to creating a product in Front Systems, certain dimensions that describe the product must be defined.
- Brands
- Product groups
- Seasons
- Colors and
- Currencies
Brand:
Brand is the name used to identify products manufactured by a particular company.
Standard calculations, such as markup are defined on the brand. This aids in automatically calculating the sale price in the event that you register an item manually in Portal.
For more information on how to create a brand, read the article Create a brand .
Product groups / subgroups:
Product group is categorization of product types. For example, Bags, Jackets, etc.
A product group can be further classified into subgroups. For example, a product group such as Jackets can have winter jackets, down jackets and such as subgroups.
For more information on how to create groups, read the article Create a product group / subgroup.
Season:
You can create relevant seasons depending on the items produced / available in that period.
For more information on how to create a season, read the article Create a season .
Colour:
You can assign or create the appropriate colour for an item.
A colour can be mapped to a base color. For example, the colour 'Ocean Blue' can be assigned to a product and the base color 'Blå' can be mapped to this colour in Portal.
For more information on how to create a colour, read the article Create a color.
Currencies:
You can define a foreign currency with the appropriate exchange rate.
This will help in calculating the costs incurred in purchasing the product from the vendor, i.e., purchase price including exchange rate, freight and customs converted to the default currency of the company.
For more information on how to create a currency, read the article Create a currency.
