Add product groups/subgroups

Goods can be categorized into product groups and subgroups.

Product group lets you categorize similar types of products in one group.

For example: Dresses, T-shirts & Tops, Blouses & Tunics, Jeans, Pants, Skirts, Sweaters & Cardigans, Jackets, etc.

Product group determines the rate at which the product is taxed.

Subgroup lets you categorize product groups that are available in different styles.

For example: Jackets is a product group, and Active, Fleece, Leather, Winter, Down jackets and such are examples of subgroups.

In this article:

Add a product group

To add a new product group, do the following:

1. Navigate to Product groups under Setup.

2. On this page, you will find an overview of all the groups used in your company.

3. Click New product group to add new ones.

If you don't see the 'New product group' button, contact your manager to get access.

4. Fill in all required fields:

- Name: Enter a name for the product group.
- Parent product group: Select No parent from the drop-down list.
- High VAT: The VAT rate displayed here is the default. Click the lock icon to make any changes.

5. Click Add once done.

To add a subgroup, do the following:

1. Navigate to Product groups under Setup.

2. Click New product group to add a subgroup.

3. Fill in all required fields:

Name: Enter a name for the subgroup.
Parent product group: Select the appropriate product group from the drop-down list.

4. Click Add once done.

Edit product group/subgroup

Click on the edit icon to update the fields on a product group / subgroup.

Delete product group/subgroup

Search for the relevant group and click on the delete icon.
